Location : Reading, England.
I'm back from the surf trip to Perranporth. I didn't surf on this trip. The waves were not inviting at all(messy, choppy and onshore winds), definitely not as nice as Lahinch in Ireland so I felt that the inevitable brainfreeze of a winter surf was not worth it. I guess you could say my main intention was to observe the surf competition but I didn't get to watch most of it because it wasn't really a priority. It would've been better if I drove there on my own...but nevertheless, the antics of the surf club members made up for it!!! This photograph kinda sums up the trip pretty well :-

Lots of drinking, fooling about, making out and some surfing seemed to be the order of the day. The victims of ridicule were the same as the first trip to South Wales and the second trip to Newquay in December. All in all the experience has been highly entertaining :-

Phew! So that's some of the photographs from the recent weekend. My last 3 weeks have been hectic, busy and tiring with the surf trip to Ireland, Danish visitors for a week and then it was this trip with the surf club to Perranporth in Cornwall, UK. I'm looking forward to settling down and just go swimming for a month or two before (I assume) the water will be warm enough to go surfing on my own every weekend.
For a surf club that's smack right in the middle of nowhere near the ocean, I'd say the University of Reading's surf club is a pretty active club made of nutters. After four surf trips organised throughout the winter, they're meeting up again tonight to elect a new committee for the coming academic year. I might just pop in to say hello to some of them but that is if I can drag my ass outta bed. There will not be anymore surf trips with the club except for a possible major overseas trip in the summer to Hossegor, France, or Tenerife, Spain. Hossegor is somewhere I definitely want to go not just to surf but apparently, the summer scene at the beach in Hossegor is legendary. Somewhat like Byron Bay in Australia(I've been there). Hmm...maybe I should buy a campervan and drive down to France...
Posted by Ripcord at March 7, 2006 01:56 AMYou want to go to Hossegor last 2 weeks of september; Quiksilver Pro. Although you'd never get a wave with so many out there!

Posted by: Ripcord at March 8, 2006 11:02 AMHey it was safe to say i had had a few, not that this should detract from the gravity defying achievenments of the rest of the surf club-i'm pretty sure i didn't put them there.
Thanks Edwin for sharing that beautiful moment with the world.

Posted by: Kevin at March 10, 2006 02:25 AMThere is actually a site I came across a year ago with photos of this prank sent in by people. I think it is a Brit site. After a night of boozing, someone's mates would compete to stack as much junk on someone who is passed out. Then take a photo and send it to the site for publication.
I can't remember what the name of it is. A search of Google for "sleeping stack booze prank" turned up nothing familiar in the first 100 results.
