Financing Trips

Location : Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I've just watched Dead Poets Society again and all I can think of at the moment is - seize the day lads! Make your lives extraordinary!!! But I think in my case, it should be seize the night(because I'm a nocturnal creature)! That's such a cool movie. Wish I had a teacher like that.

After making my last post, I get a lot of people asking me how the heck am I financing all these travel plans. I usually give a lame answer like "I'm actually a hired assasin or bounty hunter". 5000 per head. 10% discount for students. But what I actually mean is mind your own bloody business motherfucker! The truth is......I DON'T KNOW. I have a few things running for me. I have small investments...and I live simply/simple. I don't go shopping, no fancy-pancy dinners, I'm a lightweight when it comes to drinking or getting stoned, I make it a rule not to have bank loans to service. Moreover, sometimes I even work...but only short-term jobs that don't hold me down. Between here and there, I scrounge up a bit of cash and then off I go. One thing's for sure, whenever I come back to Kuala Lumpur, at first the stability feels ok but then the traffic, monotonous nightlife and being away from the ocean makes me feel claustrophobic/stressed again. Nothing in KL ever changes except the roads. I feel the need to spread my wings, fucken FLY and feel excited about life again.

This coming trip to New Zealand is because of Ryan - he talked me into a lot of cool things I can see and do. I remember from England, I have once wondered what it must be like to travel to the ends of the Earth. And from Europe, I think New Zealand IS probably the end of the Earth. How much more isolated and far can you go to get away from it all but to a country where there are more sheep than people? I remember seeing photographs(not magazines) of waterfalls and streams in New Zealand that flow with BLUE water...and I was immediately tantalised. That's how untouched New Zealand can be. With a local Kiwi mate like Ryan to show me around, what else can I ask for! An opportunity not to be missed. Its gonna be good, I'm sure.

In a couple of days, I should be making my last Malaysian surf trip to the east coast this year. And right after that, I shoot down to Singapore to attend a wedding and acquire my very first brand new iBook. I have given up on finding a second hand Apple notebook. I seem to be investing a lot in technology lately, and then taking it on trips with me to learn how to use these gadgets. Like, my Sony DSC-P8 digital camera - I learned how to use it on my last trip down to Singapore and throughout Indonesia. This iBook is going to bite me financially, and I have to re-learn a whole new computer operating system so I hope it is really worth it.

Yesterday, I managed to install Windows XP Pro into a new 80GB hard disk I bought some time ago. Its been more than 2 years since I last installed an operating system(OS) and the attempt yesterday was accomplished without a single error the first time around. Not bad, eh? I felt so damn good about it I decided to do it all over again... So I deleted the partitions, re-formatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro. After that, I couldn't, you guessed right. I re-partitioned, re-formatted and re-installed the hard disk again. Three OS installations in one night and what did I learn? I should get a life.

Do you guys have problems logging into your Yahoo email account? For the life of me, I can't seem to log into mine for the last 2 days.
